What will cause delay in processing my application?
What are the common problems encountered by CBNE on the processing of applications for the NCLEX?

There can be numerous reasons, but if you follow the instructions on the checklist accordingly then there won’t be a cause for the delay. However, our office has encountered the following issues, which should be avoided as best possible.

  1. Multiple people sending documents; one person sends payment while the applicant sends in the application.
  2. Any document that is not legible will be returned and the applicant will be asked to re-submit.
  3. Photos are not signed in the appropriate location (must be signed on the front bottom portion of the photos).
  4. Payment is made by international/foreign bank draft check; or payment is made payable to the wrong payee. Applicant must not endorse the back portion of the check/money order; endorsing it would mean a return of payment to the applicant.
  5. Application questionnaire is not answered appropriately.
  6. Lacking the required CRLE form that nursing school must complete (Doc 47: CE Provider Information (Revised: 07-27-21))

If there are lacking requirements or problems with my application, how will I be notified?

The NMI BON staff does an initial review to ensure completion of requirements are complied with. If there is any lacking requirement(s), our staff will send an email to the applicant for faster communication. Therefore, please ensure that you provide a valid email address in your application. Once you receive our email notification, you may continue to follow up by email on the status of your application.

How long before I receive my ATT?

Once you’ve registered with PearsonVue and your name will appear in our board system, you will be notified by email of the change of status and therefore, you will be given a 90-day period to schedule your NCLEX examination.

How long is the validity of my application for licensure by examination?

This will depend on the following:

  • Your application is valid for one (1) year from the date we receive your application. If your application is incomplete, you will have this one year period to complete the requirements. If the one year has lapse and it is still incomplete, your application will be discarded and application fee will not be refunded.
  • However, if your application is approved, your application is valid for one (1) year from the date of the approval letter sent to you by the NMI BON. Within this one year period, you will need to register to take the NCLEX. If you fail to take the NCLEX by the expiration date of your approval letter, your application will be considered void, and you will need to resubmit another application along with the $150 fee and the two (2) signed photos.

After I take the NCLEX examination, how long before I receive my test results.

For unofficial test results, the applicant may visit this website: https://www.ncsbn.org/after-the-exam.htm. Test results are not given by email nor by telephone.

Again, there may be other delays that are out of our control (ei. mail to foreign countries may take longer).

What happens if I pass the exam?

When an applicant passes the test, the NMI BON will issue a license and a certificate by first class mail to the address indicated on the applicant’s application. If an applicant passes, he/she may verify his/her license by visiting http://www.nursys.com within two (2) weeks after the test date.

Please refer to question #14 and please keep in mind that once we change your name in our member board system, you will be required during the test day to present a government issued photo identification that exactly matches the change of name you requested. If you do not have such photo identification, you will not be allowed to take the scheduled exam. For international applicants, the required photo id is a valid passport.
